• 49 countries represented (for some countries such as Ghana, Nigeria, Canada, Cameroon, UK and US at least three different people / officials signed the petition)
• 14 universities (from the US, UK, Argentina, India, and New Zealand)
• 8 government representatives (from Health Ministries, National AIDS Councils and Statistics Bureaus from Congo, Eritrea, Lesotho, Namibia, South Africa and Swaziland)
• 3 UN agencies (UNDP, UNICEF–Côte d’Ivoire, and DPI/NGO)
• 137 NGOs total:
• More than 47 NGOs from the US
• Several international organizations such as International Relief Islamic Organization, Maryknoll Sisters
• Organizations from at least 40 different countries
• The NGOs that signed the petition are concerned with a range of issues. Among them:

  1. Women’s issues
  2. Children’s issues
  3. Poverty issues
  4. Peace
  5. HIV training and education
  6. Assistance to vulnerable groups (elderly, handicaped)
  7. Student associations and/or unions
  8. Pan Africanism
  9. Planned and responsible parenthood
  10. Human rights issues.
