About GAWH Symposia & Initiatives
Since our founding in 1994, the Global Alliance for Women’s Health (GAWH) has held well over 100 roundtables, seminars, and forums on women’s health in most regions of the world. Our symposia have addressed a wide range of women’s health concerns, including diabetes, cervical cancer, HIV/AIDS, trachoma, coronary heart disease, depression, smoking, as well as osteoporosis and osteoarthritis. GAWH symposia have been held in partnership and co-sponsorship with UN agencies, NGOs, Permanent Missions to the UN, and the private sector.
GAWH symposia have effectively contributed to the dissemination of valuable women’s health information. Moreover, by holding symposia with UN representatives, NGOs, governmental and inter-governmental agencies, academics, and citizens from across the globe, GAWH has helped to facilitate collaborations between public and private sectors that have led to advancements in women’s health care policies worldwide.
