It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Kathleen "Terry" Singh in June of 2000. Terry was a cherished friend and a valued supporter of the Global Alliance for Women's Health since 1994. Terry served as Treasurer of the Global Alliance for Women's Health and was a Member of the Executive Board of the NGO Health Committee. She also served as president of the New York Chapter of the Pan Pacific & Southeast Women's Association, USA, was an alternate NGO representative for the Pan Pacific International for a decade and served for the International Alliance for Women.

Terry trained as a nurse and midwife at the Oxford Radcliffe Infirmary and at Saint Mary Abbots, in England. Her career led her to Toronto where she worked in the Toronto General Hospital's Heart and Lung Unit and to New York City where she joined Roosevelt Hospital's pioneer Intensive Care and Geriatric Care Units. Terry was committed to the health of all, but was particularly committed to the lifelong health of women. Her death leaves a great void. Terry's wonderfully candid manner, experience, expertise and contributions to our work will be greatly missed.

A memorial service was held on October 19th in the Chapel at the Church Center for the United Nations and was attended by more than 200 colleagues, friends and family. In Terry's memory, the Kathleen "Terry" Singh Memorial Fund has been established and will be used for the Global Alliance for Women's Health internship program.
